In short
Your reading is personal. We collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and nothing about you is public unless you choose to join the leaderboard.
Who we are
Quran Tracker is an app for tracking your Quran reading and khatams. This policy explains what information the app handles and why. If you have any questions, contact us at deadbase763@gmail.com.
Stored on your device
Your name, reading progress, khatams, awards, reading preferences and downloaded Quran text are stored locally on your device. This data stays on your device unless you link an account or join the leaderboard, as described below.
Your account
The app uses Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous account automatically. If you link an account, your email address is stored by Firebase so you can sign in and reset your password. We never see your password.
With a linked account, a private backup of your progress is saved in Firebase so it can be restored on another device. Only you can access it.
Leaderboard (optional)
Only if you join the leaderboard, the following is shared publicly with other users of the app:
- Your chosen display name
- XP, ayahs read, surahs and khatams completed
- Awards unlocked and the date you joined
Your email address and detailed reading history are never shared. You can leave the leaderboard at any time from the app, which removes your public entry. Information that other users have already copied cannot be recalled.
Third-party services
- Google Firebase: accounts, backup and leaderboard (privacy)
- Firebase App Check, using Google Play Integrity on Android and Apple App Attest on iOS: confirms requests come from a genuine copy of the app, to protect the service from abuse
- AlQuran Cloud: downloading Quran text and translations (alquran.cloud)
These services may process technical data such as your IP address and device information when the app connects to them, under their own privacy policies. We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Security
All data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Access to backups and account data is restricted to the account owner by server-side security rules.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can reset all progress from Settings, which also updates your backup and any public leaderboard entry.
To have your account and all associated data deleted permanently, email deadbase763@gmail.com from the address linked to your account. We will delete your account, backup and leaderboard entry within 30 days and confirm by email. Data stored only on your device is removed when you uninstall the app.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described here. Parents who believe their child has shared information can contact us to have it removed.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app.
